It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 9th Annual Meeting of the Japan Myopia Society, which will be held on July 3–4, 2027, at the Takanawa Gateway Convention Center in Tokyo, Japan.

Today, we are entering an era in which myopia is recognized as a lifelong eye health challenge, requiring care that supports individuals throughout every stage of life. From the prevention of myopia onset and the control of myopia progression in childhood to the prevention of pathologic myopia and vision-threatening complications in adulthood, a comprehensive life-span approach to myopia care has become increasingly important.
Achieving this vision requires collaboration among a wide range of stakeholders—from the development of new drugs and devices and the generation of scientific evidence to regulatory approval and implementation in clinical practice. Only by working together can we translate innovation into lifelong benefits for our patients.
Under the theme,

“Together for Lifelong Myopia Care”
this meeting aims to bring together ophthalmologists, orthoptists, researchers, industry partners, and representatives from governmental and regulatory agencies to discuss the future of life-span myopia care.
We are also honored to welcome two distinguished keynote speakers: Professor Marcus Ang from the Singapore National Eye Centre, a world leader in AI-driven myopia research and its translation into clinical practice, and Dr. Yasushi Ikuno, internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to vitreoretinal surgery for high myopic complications.

Our venue, Takanawa Gateway City, is one of Tokyo’s newest and most exciting urban developments. Centered around a state-of-the-art convention facility and surrounded by hotels, restaurants, shopping, and cultural attractions, this new district has attracted considerable attention as a place where new ideas, connections, and opportunities emerge.
